Janice Saruwatari

Janice is a baptized child of God and active member of First Lutheran Church in Torrance.  She has been the Secretary for First Serve Community Services of the South Bay since 2017 and a participant in many of the First Serve Programs. 

Janice retired from accounting in 2016.  She now spends her time working at various garden ministries and  volunteering time at local food pantries.  She also serves as a member of the Regional Community Alliance and Faith Council with the Department of Children and Family Services in Torrance. 

Janice was successfully matched in the Big Sister Little Sister program and was a mentor for over 11 years. She has recently felt a call to be an advocate for youth living in foster care and finds purpose and excitement in joining the FHLA team as the new Jobs for Life Program Mentorship Coordinator.
