Jobs for Life

Fostering Hope LA is proud to use the Biblically-based training culture developed by Jobs for Life.  The Jobs for Life curriculum is an employment and life skills training course consisting of 16 lessons over 8 weeks. The classes are centered on the truth that God has created each person for a purpose.  Students learn that work is an important part of that purpose to restore dignity and build character.  At the end of 8 weeks students are prepared for employment with their own resume, cover letter and interview experience.  They receive a Certificate of Completion, and we celebrate their achievements with an official graduation ceremony. See photos of our students graduating.

What will a student experience while enrolled in our JFL course?

Mentorship & Discipleship

At Fostering Hope LA mentorship is also discipleship.  We carefully pair each youth with a Christian mentor to form a bond of friendship, fellowship, support and love. We ask our mentors to commit to a 1 year mentorship that includes weekly and monthly meetings. We provide our mentors with the training, support and biblical leadership needed to fulfill this commitment.

Diploma Completion Assistance

Statistics show that 55% of foster youth do NOT graduate from high school!  We know that getting a job without a high school diploma or California High School Equivalency Certificate is difficult.  We are working with local adult schools in the South Bay to help foster youth complete their education.  Additionally, we work with local occupational centers to assist with job skills training.

Employment Pairing

Without work we lose dignity, value and purpose which creates a vicious cycle of poverty; emotional, economical and spiritual.  Fostering Hope LA is breaking this cycle by pairing our students with local businesses willing to hire and train them.  We believe these young adults will be a real benefit to the local community where they live and work.  Our business partners play a crucial role in the transformation process that each young adult experiences through our program.

We are looking for mentors and students for our next 8 week course.
